IMO all they are doing is warning you of the strong possiblity of suubstantial earnings declines this year." unpredictable quarterly fluctuations". A further delay in the roll out of the Gold plate to "middle of this year". Transition year. It sure is from reveues and eps doubling to "unpredictable quarterly fluctuations". The company has warned you.

A rather comprehensive list of all their dealings. A couple of items I thought I might point out.

<<However, the backlog that existed for the Quickmaster DI has recently been filled and the company's future Quickmaster imaging kit production will be based on Heidelberg's ongoing worldwide order rate...An important contributor should be PEARLgold, which is expected to be insrial production byt the middle of the year.>>
Does that mean there is no real money coming in from PEARLgold until June? I thought it would have been ready earlier. I guess you can't rely on that for profits for the moment .

with respect to Matchprint (TM)
<<both companies anticipate market activites will get underway in early 1998>>. I guess you didn't get any mileage out of that this past quarter and I pressume from the sentence that they haven't made any money from that yet either.
With respect to Sakurai << to produce increased orders... in 1998.>>
anyone have a number or a better time frame?

Did you think Presstek would make money from the Horsell deal?
<<...Horsell expects to begin marketing activities...by mid year>>.

With respect to the class action suite. it appears that the plaintiffs wanted to add in the SEC comments but the co will fight it. (I don't blame them) I hope for their sake no oe begins an additional class action suit just so that they could add the SEC info.
And then there is Catalina <<..and that the systems will be on-line
by mid-year>>.
I don't consider this a positive press relase although it was an informative one but no earnings guidance. IMHO It is basically backending the possibilty of upside and warning that they don't necessarily have anything at this point to smooth out any cyclical sales. Ths makes comparing this years quarters to last years quarters very difficult.

Out of this whole release I find it incredible that Dow Jones (owner of Barrons) uses a headline concerning fluctuating revenue from heidelberg. Why wasn't the headline " Heidelberg relationship intact working on new projects together." Is this not biased editing on their part?

Pierre, look at the paragraph concerning the Fuji relationship. "Consumable Applications" The only thing I know of that is consumable is plates. Wow! Will prst be private labeling for fuji? What does this mean? I am not sure exactly what it means but it is not bad news.

There may very well be a transition period where prst sees slower eps growth for a few quarters but with the relationships listed in this letter I think it will be well worth the wait. This stock is already down fifty percent from its high. At least with your puts your downside is limited. I would not want to hang short too long with all the projects this company is working on.

You are right when you say awards and relationships do not garuntee revs and eps. But this sure is a long list of potential and even a blind squirl sometimes finds a nut. If there is an earning lull for a couple of quarters it will be interesting to see just how long term and loyal the longs are and just how quick ly the shorts choose to cover.

Good Luck

Joe
