Sector, RE: BAY The whispers about the earnings reports from Bay and Ascend are generally favorable. One money manager, who asked not to be named, expects Bay to beat the First Call consensus of 26 cents per share by "a penny or two." It earned 10 cents per share one year earlier, excluding fat acquisition and restructuring charges of $1 per share in late 1996.
