Oh you are so right!!
I wanted to correct my earlier post, and you have kindly given me the opportunity. It is the July 40 calls that seem to me to be a lot like a short sale of Amazon (previously i had said June). Once again you are very right on the risks of naked calls, but these are not too much riskier than short sales. Buying puts, though expensive, doesn't carry the same risk of big losses beyond the initial investment.

Are you serious about AMZN being worth almost as much as Barnes&Noble??
Wow!
Now I am sure going to short it!! Besides, my computer desk B&N is my other favourite place to hang out. AMZN could not possibly be worth a brick and mortar + a la AMZN unit company.
I think I am going to wait for earnings and short very shortly (:-) after.
