Days Sales Outstanding. It is a ratio that analyst use to determine how many days of sales it would take to book the number of recievables currently on the balance sheet. Thus a low ratio would indicate a higher quality of earnings. If Qualcomm had shipped a hole bunch of phones at the end of the quarter in order to push up earnings you would see DSOs rise. Rising DSOs can indicate that future quarters are in jeopardy. In Qualcomms case we are seeing declining DSOs -- this is a good thing.
