The symbolism of @SecPompeo cancelling a meeting with one of America's closest allies, Chancellor Merkel, to dash off to Sochi to see Lavrov/Putin is not being lost on our European allies. (He just met with Lavrov, after all, yesterday.)

Trump not only has never criticized Putin for his attack on the US 2016 election, but he also have never criticized him for annexing Crimea, propping up Assad, trying to kill Skripal, human rights violations inside Russia, or now supporting Maduro in Venezuela. It's a pattern.
