Agreed, I don't think it's the majority opinion that CPQ will smoke earnings. The stocks' performance over the past few weeks confirms this.

Put me down for .89 and a 2 1/2 point pop tomorrow.

To Howard,

Opinions are all most of have right now. $50 ($100 pre-split) wouldn't be bad at all (except maybe for those who bought near year high in October).

What I find interesting is that at this point, all the terrific news and expectations notwithstanding, very few are voting with their pocketbooks and buying cpq. Institutions were net sellers in november and december and as yet have not made an attempt to get to their old levels. Why? Uncertaint;y - justified or not is keeping people on the sidelines.

Tomorrow will be interesting unless cpq comes in at .84 - in which case I'll just remind myself that I'm in this for the long haul.

Howard........Is it possible CPQ is sitting nuetral for last few days because all the Magellans (world's largest mutual fund who recently revealed it sold all their CPQ, INTC and MSFT (?) to reduce tech exposure) and other such large block buyers are waiting to see earnings and C.C. projections before moving in and re-acquiring?.........There are two ways to look at it (and I must confess I'm not sure which is most accurate):.. 1) Most of the big buyers are already in the know and don't want in at this time, or... 2) They got out to lock in '97 fund gains/lessen risk in a faltering sector last 2 months but really DON'T know CPQ's earnings and projections any more than we do and are truly waiting tomorrow's results before they go back in with a vengeance before they miss out on their '98 funds' performance?.......I guess after tomorrow we may have a better idea what all this sitting in a tight range has been all about.........George

Howard,

I agree with your opinion. CPQ will come in around estimates, maybe 3 or 4 cents above and stock will break 61 and hover there for awhile.
