These supercomputers are massive. About a decade ago, I read about one supercomputer that had over a million CPUs which is astounding, but also imagine what kind hardware & software interface it would take operate something like that.

Still to come and we have only scratched the surface is quantum computing.

The IBM 701 on which I learned to program could do 60 per second. That's how computers have speeded up since 1952.

Oh yes, it rented for over $150,000 per month in today's dollars.
