Recently somebody posted somewhere here on SI that the Dominican Republic is having national elections before the end of May. Current president cannot be reelected so is not running. This is obviously good news. If I were them I would keep my head down and keep real quiet until after the elections and see what the lay of the land looks like then. I can only assume they are doing something like this because for many months they have been very quiet and hopefully lobbying the right people.

It would feel quite absurd to move elsewhere, after all the work they've done and the considerable success achieved, but it may be necessary at some point ... i don't know management's thoughts on this, but expect that they're ready for anything, and aren't inclined to waste any more than the minimum of money and effort in the RD while waiting for the politics to return to rationality ... prg.v too has some excellent drill targets quite near Romero, but is waiting on the political situation, probably in solidarity with gqc partly, but also because market perception of any decent intersections would be tainted by the presidente's inexplicable stand against development ... it's a matter of waiting now, will be for a while

Elections are next year, 17may 2020

There is a paper in english, Dominican Today, here they have a piece on Unigold, who are not far to the north, but two provinces and considerable topography away, where el presidente does not seem to have a problem with making quality employment, yet - dominicantoday.com
