Trouble in Paradise? McConnell Breaks From Trump on Don Jr. Subpoena, China Trade Battle
By Caleb EcarmaMay 14th, 2019, 3:56 pm

[ Is McConnell a "libtard who hate Trump"? He says "nobody wins a trade war" while the President says "winning a trade war is easy" and "we always win." ]

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) declared that “nobody wins a trade war” after reporters asked him about President Donald Trump‘s ongoing tariff battle with China and also broke with the president on the Senate Intelligence Committee’s subpoena of the first son.

“One thing I think we all agree in is nobody wins a trade war,” McConnell said today after being questioned about his concern that tariffs could hurt America more than China. “We’re all hoping as others have suggested here that these particular tactics get us in a better position vis-a-vis China, which has been our worst and most unfair trading relationship for a very long time.”

“Ultimately nobody wins a trade war,” he repeated in response to a reporter asking him to admit that tariffs are taxes on American consumers. “Unless there is an agreement at the end after which tariffs go away and if it does, I think it’ll be a winner for both sides.”

Trump has claimed his aggressive tactics has led China to want a new trade deal.

China will be pumping money into their system and probably reducing interest rates, as always, in order to make up for the business they are, and will be, losing. If the Federal Reserve ever did a “match,” it would be game over, we win! In any event, China wants a deal!

As for his remarks on the outrage expressed by some GOP senators and Trump about the Senate Intel Committee’s subpoena for Donald Trump Jr., McConnell insisted that “None of us tell Chairman [Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC)] how to run his committee.”

“I ask him to undertake this investigation into Russian collusion, a couple of years ago he indicated publicly that he believes they will find no collusion, and we’re hoping that we’ll get a report on that subject sometime soon,” he added.

Earlier today, Trump called the subpoena a “tough situation” while speaking outside the White House.

“My son spent I guess over 20 hours testifying about something that Mueller said was 100 percent OK,” he said. “Now they want him to testify again. I don’t know why. I have no idea why. But it seems very unfair to me.”

And Trump's campaign received no assistance. Even Mueller said so.
