Things that grow well in the tropics are unlikely to grow well in New York, pretty simple.

She uses a lot of words of awe, encouraging words supportive words, like one might use to encourage a small child. I think it's possible she really does live in this disconnected place, where everything is awesome and wonderful, an exciting world she is continually discovering. Fits with her misunderstanding about growing conditions.

She's an actress.
