What is "RF ISM-band" wireless?

I believe that home systems will look something like what stereo systems are like today: with a bunch of stacked, wired boxes for most of the devices, hooked together by USB and/or FireWire. Control will be done via wireless NCs, including mini-NCs that will function much like today's remote control devices although with mini-displays for status readout. So in terms of wireless, I believe that most of the "standards" will be overkill. Wireless will only be a small niche player with regard to LAN inter-connections. I believe that if you really understand NCs, you will realize that this is the future, and it has big consequences with regard to understanding the way in which LANs are going, whether they be in the office or at home. As software is written to properly take advantage of the NC, PCs will fall out of favor and will only be favored in the instance of portable machines that will not always be connected to a network.
