So called "rare earths" are abundant and occur together in the same ores.

Most college chemistry professors are fully qualified to calculate a series of extraction steps needed to separate one from another. I myself know enough chemistry that I could probably design most of these steps myself. A different process needs to be calculated for each ore type. In each simple purification process, you dissolve then precipitate one or more of the "rare earths" from the others.
