Paul, I scanned the profile of several retailer listed at the link. KMart, Walmart, and Shopko seem to fit the bill for sales and size - Walmart dwarfing the rest. (my apologies for any out there who are verticaly challanged). But to my knowledge none are a good fit since they don't merchandise groceries, do they?
Cost's reason for being or their bread and butter is the bread and butter. It's hard to compare the above to them. I didn't sift through all the names (my modem is not that fast so it's a chore) but just from the sound of their names they appear to be geared for apparel. What do you think?

That is a pretty cool resource though. I typically hate change but this should be welcomed. Thanks for the tip!

Looks like 45.5 is the resistance point for a while.

Jim

Paul,

Re: Can you guys identify who Costco's real competitors are from this list.

Just my $.02 worth.

BJS WHOLESALE CLUB INC and WAL MART STORES's Sam's Club are really the only large wholesale clubs that I know of, and I believe that BJ's is having some troubles (but I could be wrong about that).
ÿ
DAYTON HUDSON CORP's Target Stores, KMart, Sears and any general merchandise store maybe are close, but I don't see any of them getting their costs down as low as Costco can keep them.

DOLLAR GENERAL and FAMILY DOLLAR STORES and others of their ilk may have low prices but the selection is less.
ÿ
So, as far as I'm concerned, Costco is pretty much alone, now that it and PriceCo are one again. ('Again' from the standpoint that the President and CEO of Costco are ex-PriceCo people.)
