There's absolutely no reason China should copy when the Communist Party can easily command a new "Five Year Plan of Innovation".

Just look at the huge increase in artisanal pig-iron production Mao achieved with the Great Leap Forward.

China is fully capable of funding their own military R&D, so I'm certain Emperor Xi found it embarrassing that anyone in China thought China's Deep State needed the US to subsidize their military contractors with free technology.

China's leaders have more than 2 billion human livers, hearts, lungs and other body parts on offer, for those who can afford the price of an organ transplant, so a perfect match is always immediately available.

As a result China always has access to an endless revenue stream to fund their military-industrial complex, even during times they can't find other ways to profit from the large herd they tend.
