I don't think they preempt for a holiday or even a state funeral. Ken Jennings was in the midst of his streak when Ronald Reagan died, so Jeopardy was preempted, but still "ran" and skipped to the next episode.

Now, Monday looks to be #28. I know it's not yet run in some time zones, so, I'll give a ...

I think today's show #27 was the first where an opponent wound up in the red.

Just saw this:

Professional sports gambler James Holzhauer set a new record for single-game winnings on April 9, 2019 with the response "what is quantum leap." His final total set his day's winnings at $110,914 which not only surpassed the 2010 single-day record of $77,000 but is the same digits as his daughter's birthday (11/09/14).

James does things a little different than most players. Whereas most start with the low value items at the top of a column and work their way down, James starts with the high value ones at the bottom. He then tries to built up a large cash position so when he finds the Daily Double he can bet large and get such a huge lead no one can catch him. High risk and high reward way to play. He also bets large on the Final Jeopardy question. In the past most would bet small amounts when they knew they had a lead that couldn't be overcome.

We've now know he took a year off work to study for the game. He also spend a lot of time working on his buzzer response. All that work has paid off big time. It will be interesting to see how far he can take it.
