5G is 10 gig per second. T-Mobile says it has 5G but it's around 493 Mbps.

No US phone has 5G. At least five Chinese companies can do 5G. Two Chinese companies also have foldable phones, something no one else has. Samsung pulled its foldable phone after numerous complaints of breakage.

In Europe, 5G LTE is possible but it's less than half of real 5G and only if they use a base unit made by Huawei.

Shanghai was the first city to have 5G. I haven't seen anyone say this is incorrect.

The catch phrase I hear is "US gov: if you can't beat them, ban them."
