Theoretically the "good samaritan" laws are indeed supposed to correct this problem. But there are nuances of interpretation, as I understand it, which allow the attorneys to sue you anyway if they really want to. The problem is that the merits of the case don't mean so much as the sympathy value of the particular injury or the depth of the defendant's pocket.
