Steve,
I was commenting about moving a large order. If you are trying to buy 100,000 shares in a low priced stock that has a volume of 100,000 on an average day, then you cannot chase it up. You need to sit there and let it come to you. You ARE the market for all intents and purposes for the time being.

In that case it is best to be patient.

If you were only buying 1000 shares of Intel, I agree with you completely. Just place the order and don't worry about 1/8 point.

This entire discussion started with people asking how market makers are scalping fractions on the spread. I am just giving people a strategy to avoid that if they really want to feel good about the price they are getting.
