"climate change has been real for 5 billion years at least" It should be real for the next 5 billion years, too. This will be the only time that humans will be the cause, however.

A few basic facts. Most Americans trust scientists, second only to the military. Most scientists who donate to a political party, donate to Democrats. Most scientists are Democrats (only a tiny fraction are conservative republicans). Since I've outlined that I see the gop as the party of slogans and advertising it's easy to see why science isn't something they're interested in. They try to manipulate weak minded people with ads, while scientists use facts to persuade. Bad ads are replaced after they fail. Facts change only after new evidence or new facts support change. When it comes to some of the social issues, over 90% of the Fortune 500 support gay rights and over 80% support trans rights (including gender identity issues). From my perspective we already won both issues a long time ago so now we wait for the knuckle draggers to catch up with us. On climate change, we're still waiting for fox news and talk radio to put out ads saying it's okay to believe in the science of global warming but at some point they will. This is another issue we won a long time ago as we wait for the draggers to catch up. You say I'm too young to understand how this works, but I see how easy it is for their ads to force you to do as they please. They tell you to hate China, Hispanics and Muslims and you have no ability to say no. Their ads control you and your party. I see it every day. It's nearly statistically impossible to be killed in a terrorist attack and yet the gop spent trillions of dollars telling to to fear terrorism. China builds the things our CEOs tell them to build and they tell you to hate China. Their ads tell you that uneducated Hispanics will steal your job when unemployment is already at record lows. They own you. They control you and you have no power to stop them.
