Give me a few minutes and put together a timeline of what happened during the 90s. Then we can look at the same facts and not use nonsense like you just wrote.

We begin with an obvious lie. First, President Clinton forced republicans to use Paygo which was created by Dems and Bush 41. Clinton required all spending and tax cuts to be paid for before it was sent to him. Republicans didn't repeal the Clinton tax increase which they said would cause a recession and higher deficits. Did you Google the interview between O'Donnell and Gingrich?

Imagine any republican being forced to pay for what he spends today. He'd cry like a little baby.

Now the time line and this not all inclusive. You'll notice a significant decline in the deficit before Newt passed his deficit reduction plan in 1998. In fact, by the time he passed his plan the budget was already balanced.

So here are the facts.
1) Clinton and Dems increased taxes
2) republicans said the tax increases would cause a recession and explode the debt. They were 100% wrong but being 100% means they get credit right?
2) a few years later the budget was balanced
3) republicans passed their balanced budget plan
4) as soon as President Clinton left office, taxes were cut (passed in 2000 for fiscal year 2001) and the deficits went up.
5) there was a very short recession in 2001 which ended after 911 as the government increased spending (proving that more spending ends recessions, not spending cuts).
6)The war was taken off budget so we see the revenue from the war (which reduces the deficit) but not the expenditures (which exploded the debt).

Again, these are all basic historical facts, lacking in the gibberish republicans use in their ads, mottos and slogans.

I'm redoing the chart. The columns got messed up when I did a copy and paste.
