To Thread: Wednesday January 21, 11:00 am Eastern Time Company Press Release WinSystems' PC/104-Compatible Adapter Supports SanDisk CompactFlash SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 1998--SanDisk Corp. (NASDAQ:SNDK - news) today announced that WinSystems' PCM-CFlash, a PC/104-compatible adapter, will support SanDisk CompactFlash memory cards. PC/104 is an embedded-PC standard. It satisfies the need for compact implementation of the PC bus which reduces space and power constraints of embedded control applications. PC/104 offers full architecture, hardware and software compatibility with the PC bus in ultra-compact stackable modules. Designed to mount on a PC/104 stack, WinSystems' PCM-CFlash is a small, low cost adapter module which has a mounting configuration that allows ''hot swapping'' of CompactFlash(TM) (CF)(TM) cards from an embedded computer system while that system's power remains on. CF memory cards produced by SanDisk use the industry-standard ATA storage interface which is ''plug-and-play'' in all major operating systems. Because of this support, CF does not require special software drivers. SanDisk CF memory cards are available in capacities ranging from 2 to 24MB and higher capacities will be introduced soon. Nelson Chan, vice president of marketing at SanDisk, said, ''We are pleased that WinSystems' PCM-CFlash supports CF which has gained broad industry acceptance across many different applications such as digital cameras, HPCs, palmtops, digital voice recorders, Palm PCs and Auto PCs. With CompactFlash being designed into the PCM-CFlash, CF has become an industry standard in the embedded PC market as well.'' SanDisk Corp., the world's largest supplier of flash data storage products, designs, manufactures and markets industry-standard, solid-state data, image and audio storage products using patented, high density flash memory and controller technology. SanDisk has strategic alliances with Seagate Technology, Matsushita Electronic Corp., NEC Corp. [Nasdaq:NIPNY - news] and LG Semicon. SanDisk is based in Sunnyvale, Calif.
