Does anyone have the technical expertise to explain something to me. In this release it says that TI will make the dsp chips for the base stations and subscriber units for the consortium of Interdigital/Siemens/Samsung . Interdigital also has a deal with LSI to make the asic chips. My question is does the asic go in the handset and the dsp chips go in the base station and subscriber unit. Actually my confusion is a subscriber unit a hand set or some kind of receiver the handset goes in ?. This consortium has been working on this B-CDMA for quite some time and they are claiming it is the answer for the broadband for data, video Etc.
Thanks -Jim

Did you catch the part about wireless chips --

Squawk Box asked if TI was experiencing any weakness
in this area since Lucent had indicated weakness
there -- Aylesworth said TI didn't have any
weakness in wireless chips.

I agree -- I think the earnings statement overall
looks pretty good. The long term outlook continues
to look positive, even though I'm not expecting too
much change short term. Last time I checked TI was up
a little.
