Post polio patients lose most of their neuro muscular junctions They were told to exercise regularly. Those who exercised the most died at younger ages. The recommendations were changed. Muscular dystrophy kids who also have spinal bifida and cant use their lower extremities have well preserved muscle structure of their lower extremities I actually used this info when I bought SRPT at $8 As the medicated patients were evaluated against natural history and not double blind placebo the argument was that medicated patients may have unknowingly been given more Physical Therapy and thus done better than natural history My model said those given more PT would likely become immobile sooner This supported that the drug was effective Just one more little point of data to raise the odds above 50%
