I sure as hell hope so, I've got this stock coming out of my ears! More than I want to be holding, but how much further can it go down? THe shorts have got to answer that question at SOME POINT. THe question is when do they start looking to take profits. My guess is one more good earnings with a good forward looking statement may get them to move on. This stock is like a freak of nature, so who knows?

Steve

PP, hope you are right, but trading since Tuesday makes me less optimistic short-term. Semis are going up, pulling up some equipment makers, but CYMI and many DUV makers are not really participating, just treading water.

I think right now the Street is concentrating on delays/pushouts in orders of new equipment reflected in the backlog numbers. SVGI had good earnings, but their backlog is down, so the earning surprise goes unnoticed. Only 2% of their 1 year backlog is from Asia, and they had shipments to Dongbu postponed (although some Micrascans scheduled for Dongbu had been already reassigned). This contributes to uncertainty about the degree of Asian pushouts.

Compare this with TER - their good earnings were expected, no surprise here, but their backlog had increased, and the stock went up 13%. Other back-end company, CMOS, rose 15% in sympathy. LTXX that may be the best value in the ATE group did not participate, probably because they derive 50+% of revenues from the Asian markets.

Add to this all the recommendations for MU based on expected delayed investment by Asian DRAM makers and downgrades ala Kurlack based on predictions of slump in semis - if I was a fund manager, I would also be uneasy about buying CYMI before their backlog picture is clear.

I have bought more CYMI at 15.25 couple of days ago and may buy more at the bottom of monthly SOX cycle, but do not expect any sustained positive trend for CYMI until later in the year (June?) - unless they can persuade the analysts during the conference that their backlog is sustainable or will improve shortly.

Y.

Thats not the way it looks above. Lets face it , nothing other than a new CEO announcement will bring the street back.
I know they shoot messengers but something other than the Jan 29th earnings release is needed here.
