From Briefing,
<<APPLIED MICRO CIRCUITS CORP (AMCC) 15 1/2 +1/2. Few seem to be interested in this maker of
telecommunications equipment, despite the company's report of extremely strong 3rd qtr results. For the period,
earnings per share rose 100% and revenues increased 36% to $0.20 and $19.7 million, respectively. The
bottom-line results were 9 cents, or 82%, ahead of the mean estimate of three analysts surveyed by First Call.
Sequentially, net income increased 37% and revenues 8%. Based on current estimates for 1997 ($0.42) and
1998 ($0.52), AMCC shares carry a multiple of 37 and 30, respectively. AMCC is a recent initial public
offering. The stock debuted on November 25 at $8 per share, in a deal led by BancAmerica Robertson Stephens,
NationsBanc Montgomery Securities Inc. and Cowen & Company.

Look for upgrades and raising of the estimates fairly soon. Current 52c estimate for 1098 looks very low. This could be a big one.

Good luck.
