You aren't up to speed on Constitutional Law, Common Law, and the protections for Freedom of Speech enshrined in multiple cases over the last couple hundred of years. I've posted articles from the ABA that dissect this issue, and suffice it to say that case law and precedent exist to regulate social media to protect freedom of speech. It is coming and is just a matter of time.
