Tulvio; RE:" Russian Oil BizBuzz "

>>The consolidation of the C.I.S. (Russian) oil industry is BIG news, boyz...

>what's your take on this news; It seems to me that Russia's oil
production efficiency should improve with resulting increased output,
thereby affecting the supply/demand so as to reduce OSX. OTOH, efficiency is not listed in the Russian dictionary.

Vraiment, Tulvio. I've worked with their (metals) industrialists - but not their Gaz guys. Although they do not understand anything about efficiency ( they call our Management Science, " Taylorism " ) they understand one and only one way to lower unit costs - Economy of Scale : More kilos per hour; more kilos per man.

Sometimes I get the impression that they all watched old episodes of The Untouchables for (god's honest truth) this is how they think kapitalism is supposed to work. The guys I have met all carry 9mm automatics.

Send 'em some Texans is what I say, Tulvio! (^_^)

They've been dragging their feet for years - though there was a big oil rush when the walls first came down. I think their consolidation may help our Machinery & Equipment business - and I hope our guys are already over there, lining up contracts. I would be.
