" ... like some of Michael Burry's picks ...

The only one I liked was DIS which I also have in my 5 stock portfolio. It's shown a capital gain of 179% since Sep. 2012.
At least he only has 14 stocks in his Portfolio, and NO ETF's !

Mind you, only 4 of his stocks currently show a capital gain and one of them is DIS. His Portfolio is currently showing a $10.3 million Loss.

"Buffet now owns the company rather than pieces of stocks, at least w/ a few of his last Buys. I guess when you have the cash, just buy the entire company"

In fact Buffett owns a fair number of Private companies. He particularly likes family owned businesses and he very rarely interferes in the running of these companies, and hardly, if ever, attends their board meetings. These days private companies come to him to be bought out by Berkshire. One of the reasons being that he supplies them with Capital for expansion, etc...
His primary requirement is that they send him their annual financial statements and a portion of their pretax profits .....

Dalio is a macro investor, so going for ETF‘s makes sense. It looks like he is making an outsized bet on emerging markets outperforming. They like liquid ETF‘s because they can get in and out of their positions very quickly.
