The KKK had over 6 million members from all over the country, from both parties. There were marches in Washington on the 4th of July with the KKK and this was long after slavery ended. It took 100 years for blacks to get the right to vote after the Civil War and decades more before one could be elected to the White House. Then we learned just how many losers we have in this country. The gop refused to work with him on any issue and defined themselves as being unAmerican for the rest of time.
