I'm not sure but even if a person had passed all their posts will still be here. I don't know if SI deletes profiles or not as I know a former poster Dale Baker was booted off but his posts are still here.

There are free SI memberships or a family member might use the deceased member's computer if it logged into SI automatically to make a notification.

People have different wishes though. I know one person that doesn't want a funeral, memorial service or even an obit in the newspaper.

We have lots of people who take over the accounts and post a message to let friends on SI know. Many come to mind but the one that really comes to mind is Dave, he was a great guy, I really liked him.

See:

Message 29602514

When Dave passed, the header was black for one day and his photo was up there in place of one of the SI people. I should have taken a screenshot of it.
