A few years ago I lived in an apartment with a communal laundry area. I was in there one day and a group of about 4 women were having a meeting to discus house keeping duties. The woman in charge would speak perfect unaccented English and in the middle of a sentence switch to Spanish. Then back. Then back again. It was fascinating to listen to but I was worried I was having a stoke - understand, don't understand, understand, don't understand. In 100 years all Americans will probably speak something like that, half English/half Spanish. Unintelligible to we travelers from the past, Hispanic and Anglo alike.
