On the short jump, how fast were you coming in when you landed? I have heard it was pretty good rate of speed. Plus I guess you were often heavily loaded too!

Yeah, I can see why "geronimo" would be much better than "look out below".

I looked it up. Moderate to large fellow with 80 lb pack lands at about 8 m/s. That's equivalent to jumping off a 10 ft. building. No wonder they train so hard on that land and roll technique.
