ValueSpec, I can respond with my limited knowledge to your inquiry,
but I would ask that you check with the company for verification, ok?

The tracphone is very expensive and is an underway system which cannot simultaneously track other satellites.

The FutureTrak system is not currently an underway system, which may be why it is priced far below other systems.

Also, FTRK's is a DSS system.

The Flat Array Antenna is the next step in the FutureTrak gameplan and is slated for release soon. That antenna, from what I understand, will be the stand out system that may blow the lid wide open for their sales, as well as their function capabilities.

That may include many of the features that you are speaking of, but I am not in their boardroom, therefore I can not say for certainty what the actual capabilities of the complete system will be.

One thing I can say with certainty is this;
even the so-called competitors to FutureTrak have admitted privately that it was their opinion that the whole industry was headed for the flat panel variety.

Also, think of all the condo's and other associations that currently bar the use of satellite dishes.

It makes one wonder if they would be opposed to a flat screen that nobody sees. Seems like a large potential customer base.

<< I'm still not sure what FTRK offers. Is is a TV?
Or is it voice and data communications like SKYC's? Does FTRK's product do
position tracking, too? >>

My inquiry to FutureTrak was limited to their product's application to
DSS users and also DISH subscribers that may soon find themselves
having to deal with programming coming from several differently
positioned satellites. Echo I&II in a different part of the sky than EchoIII, and Echo IV another yet, maybe.
The Flat Planar will supposedly work seamlessly with existing
receivers to "absorb" signal from the respective transmitter it
was instructed to track and lock onto. This ability to "jump back
and forth" between differently positioned satellites seems unique
considering it is not a mechanically based process. The Flat Planar
accomplishes its task from within its flat sealed enclosure.

My question at this point is... what is the market potential for
such a product, given an estimated beginning price point of approximately $3,400 ?

I doubt the average DISH or DSS subscriber could justify such costs.

Other applications abound. Marine, military, any application in
a which the conspicuous "generic parabolic dish" design is
seen as undesirable.

Any thoughts on a particular market this product might rapidly
penetrate?
