Dear Frank - sorry I ve not listened to the CC, but I saw remarks from several posts about BAY mgt mocking the attending analysts during the call, I am wondering if it is real, perceived or misunderstandings. I mean, considering the track record of Dr House & team, it seems to be out of character. Now, if they singled out DLJ, it might be at least understandable, it was harder to imagine to DMG, especially most people know Messr Lindsay.

I mean, one can laugh because 1) one thinks the question is absurd; 2) one wants to be friendly; 3) one is nervous b/c one doesn't ve the hard figure on hand... etc

My point is that we should not perpetuate a misinterpreted situation.

Frank - I listened to the *entire* CC and I know exactly why and under what circumstances the laughter came, and in fact, the analyst *love* to have a relaxed atmosphere. The only hint that this laughter was in any way demeaning or out of place came from the people on this thread.

The laughter was in response to a question of the exact break down of the bookings for each product line - this is *precisely* what the analyst are paid for. The analyst have huge spreadsheets that try to guess at all of the product line shipments based on information gleened from the company, vendors, resellers, etc. This information, along with historical trends in margins and pricing and information from sources such as Dell Oro are used to make an "accurate" model of Bay's business.

What the analyst would really like is to have Bay open up the internal books so that they could stop guessing and see exactly what we are doing. Get real.

The analyst dont give a rats ass if they are laughed at if they can make money on a company. Their big instatutional investors (10s of millions of dollars) are not going to allow the analyst to tell them, "well Bay looks good going forward, but they laughed at me so I downgraded them" - That's ludicrous.

Bay was downgraded due to uncertainty of the outlook going forward. Period.

Frank - You'll never make any points on this thread by critisizing Bay's management. If you want to complain about the conference call, complain to Bay's IR.
