Respond to of 13801 The UK is a nation of bludgers who want Germans to pay for their preferred lifestyle. English citizens are not OK with a "hard border" which makes takes away any of their "rights" as "EU citizens", but they otherwise want a hard border - just no passport controls or limitations for UK citizens.Residents of the UK wanted a magical border. Liars like Boris Johnson promised they could have a magical border by voting for Brexit. a.) UK citizens want a border which still recognizes them as EU members, allowed to visit, live, retire and receive free medical care in Europe, b.) but a border which will also excluded certain Europeans from England and prohibit them from receiving medical care and other benefits in the UK. Lying Boris Johnson initially promised the UK could divert the large sums of money the UK sent to the EU to pay for things like medical care for British retirees, and use this money to improve the NHS medical care in the UK. But this would mean British retirees would no longer be eligible for healthcare in Spain. The illusion of savings came from the fact that British retirees in living in Spain are not eligible for free NHS healthcare in England . (see below) So English retirees with health problems living in Spain would have to move back to the UK and costs at the NHS in England would rise by more than the medical costs England had paid for retirees in Spain where medical costs are lower. PM Theresa May had the UK entering into a negotiated separation which would have provides the UK with the same mix of EU rights and obligations non-EU nations like Norway and Switzerland have. Unfortunately this lacked the slap in the face theatrics as they stormed out of the EU, many UK citizens wanted - while worse still they wanted more EU rights than Switzerland and Norway have while also wanting fewer obligations - and that's never going to be an available option. ***************************************************Who gets free care at the UK NHS and who Does NOT UK residents “A person will be “ordinarily resident…” in the UK when that residence is lawful, adopted, voluntary, and for settled purposes as part of the regular order of their life for the time being, whether of short or long duration.”EU nationals A valid European Health Insurance Card gives EEA nationals the right to access state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in another European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland:British citizens / Non-EU Euro-Economic-Area / and Swiss nationals who are visiting the UK will be charged for NHS services at 150% of costs they receive at the point of accessing care . If your circumstances are as above, it is recommended that you are covered for healthcare through private medical insurance for the duration of your visit, even if you are a former UK resident. Should you need NHS treatment and you have not arranged insurance, you will be charged at 150% of the standard NHS rate. What happens if I cannot pay? Once the hospital has established that you must pay for treatment, you will usually be asked to pay the full cost in advance, unless emergency treatment is required immediately. If you cannot pay in advance, the hospital will ask for a written undertaking to pay. If you cannot provide proof that you can afford to pay, treatment will be refused and you may be offered the chance to be treated privately. *************************************************** But as a UK retiree I used to be entitled to free healthcare while I lived in England, and later anywhere in Europe I moved to. Yes, that was before Brexit .
