I generally fear the 3X structured products for I do not play daily zig / zag well because I cannot keep eyes constantly on the ball, and I do not like the rolling friction of leveraged ETF products. BRZU requires understanding of local street-level knowledge, and requires more precise timing than I can manage. Had in the past owned regular Brazil ETF, but am now staying close to home, and mainly in 0388.HK (HKEX).

I have not shuffled much since 2012, stayed put in set positions encompassing cash, stocks, metals, and bricks. Change in stance called for and nearing, I figure and fear.

Am now on own in San Francisco, and after interactions in town and in the valley, perhaps 10 days or maybe 8, to get a sense, then onward to New York for more of the same, followed by breaks in Moscow, St Petersburg, then partake in total deliberative and reflective tranquility of Suzhou, followed by preparatory recompression in Shanghai, before starting second half of the year back in HK.

Altogether 6 weeks of relatively easy meetings, sharing of meals, readings, as well as joining up w/ the rest of the family to tag along w/ the wife's programming.

The wife and kids are in New York, ensconced properly and taking in museum tours for the Jack, whilst the Coconut does her dance training. The Broadway shows are all for the Coconut and the Jack is suffering :0)

- Sleeping Beauty
- My Fair Lady
- Frozen
- Tootsie
- The Magic Flute

I cannot see the Jack getting excited about any of the shows, and so I promised to take him to some movie of his choice. Gives him hope.

I understand the Jack watched on TV the tanks in Washington yesterday, and is now even more enthusiastic to spend an upcoming day to ride in Russian tanks and armoured vehicles.

School year-end report: Jack got particularly praised for maturity, social interaction, leadership and mathematics, and mentioned as having made progress in growth in reading (he is already high in reading ability but lazy in growth). Jack is a social creature.

The Coconut is lukewarm (actually steel cold) on the tanks, but keen to share meal and dialogue w/ someone 70-years young who was a fly-on-the-wall (as interpreter) during Cold War era summits between Russia and America to get better understanding of what it was all about in preparation for her coming school semester humanities studies. Good to have Russian cousin to help w/ guidance on what to see, where to go, and all that comes w/ local contacts :0)

Both kids are keen on the caviar restaurant day.

Whilst in St Petersburg shall share meal w/ a SI threader who is extend-visiting Russia and Europe. The gentleman said he would like to tag w/ us for the visit to the Central Naval Museum which is Russian-language friendly and English-not-really, and that would be super. The museum is supposed to be the largest naval museum in the world. Both kids are super excited. The Coconut for the history, and the Jack for the battle ships.

Wonderful world.
