3G was CDMA. The air interface is the wave function. The series was analogue, time division multiple access, code division multiple access, orthogonal frequency division multiple access. Each more efficient than the previous in a big way like order of magnitude. 5G is just tinkering with cell sizes, spectrum, beam steering etc which 20 years ago I thought would have been done by 2005. And a lot more besides.

The USA unfortunately allowed attacks on Qualcomm by whining Korea, kleptocratic China, GSM Nazi Euroserfs. And joined the attack too. Oops a daisy now USA wonders why Huawei leads and Samsung too.

If everyone were to vote for an IoT standard, they would vote for our standard, because Qualcomm hasn’t done much work in the IoT sphere and we’ve done a huge amount of research,” said Mr Ren. Huawei: Ren Zhengfei defiant in face of hostile US actions Although there is no clear industry leader

CDMA was not only not a mistake, it was the biggest thing ever enabling mobile Cyberspace. Watch people for a short time to see how much they use it. And how important mobile cyberspace is.

But Irwin gave it away cheap as he wasn't concerned about making Bill Gates look poor. He did it for fun. And to do great stuff.

let me be clear re <<In the cellular space, CDMA was a very bad mistake of team America, and TCDMA was a very bad mistake of team China. GSM was a good call by team Europe. And now, onward to 5G, then 6G.>>

Team America made a bad mistake w/ CDMA rollout

Team China made a bad mistake in trying TCDMA

Team Europe did good GSM rollout

<<I believe it does well for parties to take account of global markets as opposed to narrower slivers of any larger market, mathematically speaking.
