It hard to get current data, but this is one interesting piece, that shows Mexico in recent years is actually hugely negative on illegals:

What I've read says that fewer Mexicans are trying to cross the border because the Mexican economy has been growing nicely. Not only are fewer coming but supposedly a significant number are returning to Mexico.

This makes sense because plenty of US corporations have set up production in Mexico. You can Google articles on the growth of a middle class in Mexico. It started about 5 years after the signing of NAFTA.
Another reason given for the improved conditions for Mexicans is that they are practicing birth control.

In recent years there has been a growing movement to the border from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala in particular. One of your Dem candidates is calling for the US to fund a 'Marshall Plan' in these countries to motivate people to stay home.

Farming in one part of Guatemala has collapsed and most migrants are said to be coming from this particular region. We're sending aid to that region and the Guatemalan govt. has pledged to try and stop the outflow.

Actually this started in the last years of the Obama administration, but Guatemalans were trying to migrate to Mexico at first. But Mexico came down hard on that and even started driving them instead to the US border, lol.

Mexico's going to protect that middle class we gave them when we let US corporations build factories in their country.
