Wait! This is a political issue for these people - not an immigration issue. They want and need the controversy to continue. By "they" I mean the politicians - because it sucks in those who feel threaten by immigrants - legal or illegal. Too many dumb people who do not even understand this issue. They need an evil - something - as an excuse for every perceived threat to them. The evil aspect is the inhumanely way legal asylum seekers are treated. My grandmother was ordered deported when she hit Ellis Island - but she was treated with all the kindness and compassion that was America then. That is the difference today!!

At the debate, all of your candidates raised their hands in support of decriminalizing illegal border crossings. Can you not see the slippery slope here? Anytime a behavior is decriminalized, more people will engage in that behavior. History has shown us that. Being branded a criminal with a felony record is a big deterrent. Not much deterrence in crimes that are civil and just carry a fine.
