Of course it can go out of style. However, it may never lose its function, right? Style vs substance?

I do remember a time during which it was considered frumpish to do come-ons. The truly cool way to get the attention of a prospective squeeze was to saunter up to them, stare them up and down and ask "Wanna f*ck?" Taht way, you either scored or you found out the status of your medical insurance coverage.
