John Fowler. Re: Wintel vs. IBM. To add to my point about TOP DOWN vs. BOTTOM UP, Wall St. does not understand how the Intel, Msft, and Cpq believe that PC sales are very elastic and how their joint responsibility to grow sales (rather than wait for them to happen) is what is propelling this industry.

Do you find it ironic that Wall St. continues to put out that category growth is slowing down, (they use top down language like household penetration etc.) while the industry keeps coming up with ways to make it grow faster (e.g. faster modems) which get more people to upgrade more often.

I must say I enjoy watching these people getting hoisted on their own petards.
