TeleHub's broadband network will be the first network optimized to deliver switched voice, data and video services over a multiservices platform. The MainStreetXpress 36170 Switch was chosen principally because of its superior multiservices and voice service capabilities, complemented by the Siemens / Newbridge network and services management system. TeleHub's Virtual Access Services Platform (VASP), which incorporates Signaling System 7 (SS7) technology for voice, together with the Siemens / Newbridge ATM technology, will result in significant transport and switching efficiencies, which translate into savings to its end customers. TeleHub Network Services will offer switched-voice, frame relay, private line, and ATM to local exchange carriers (LECs), competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs), inter-exchange carriers (IXCs) and independent telephone companies (ITCs). TeleHub's unique strategy of using a flexible, broadband ATM platform to fulfill the requirements of the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) 14-point checklist for unbundled services on an ATM platform is a winning proposition due to the flexibility of ATM to simultaneously support high quality voice services, data traffic and Internet Protocol (IP) traffic including Internet/intranets. The FCC 14-point checklist documents the requirements operating companies must meet to enter the long distance service provider market.
