I'm happy for you Elroy!

SIMO has sucked for the past year, I'm not happy.....:-(

I wish I had sold it at $60 last August.

I'm looking to exit SIMO after 9 years of holding (my cost basis is below $4), just hoping for one last upswing. I hope I don't regret it. SK has gone internal with cell phone controllers, WDC is increasingly launching SSDs with internal controllers and now MU has started announcing SSDs with internal controllers.

Despite that, SIMO says they expect to gain meaningful market share in SSD controllers this year due to a significant increase in design wins last year. It's hard to understand how WDC and MU are going internal AND SIMO is gaining market share, but lets see.

SIMO's claim in their Q1 call was that despite a disasterous Q1 revenue number, and weak revenue guidance for Q2 they think full year 2019 revenues will be about the same as 2018. And now Q2 has come in below revenue guidance, so either their previous forecast was nonsense (likely) or they are about to explode upward in sales as Ali Babba Shannon sales ramp, SSD controller design wins ramp and Chinese cell phone module makers ramp. In order to have 2019 be equal to 2018 in sales Q3 and Q4 sales need to average $165m (after being $89m and $95m in Q1 and Q2). I don't expect that kind of ramp, but it seems fairly likely that H2 2019 sales will go up from H1, and up is always good.

Hopefully before the end of the year I finally sell my SIMO, and put the money into fertilizer stocks and normal safe semi stocks like ADI and TXN.
