I think what we are seeing is a breakthrough in productivity - which is, probably, in itself a textbook case of disruptive innovation, first described by Christensen in his “Innovator’s Dilemma”. First, the disruptors compete on price - and get a bad reputation, as if they are vendors of junk. That view may be fully justified - except, they keep learning, and continue to improve quality. That’s what we are seeing with Chinese / Asian imports. 30 years ago, it was cheap plastic toys and some clothing. Not anymore.

I still remember the times when people used to call Toyotas “Toy cars”.

Our leaders are busy with their power games, cat fights and victim / oppressor virtual realities. What is needed is deregulation - and allowing businesses, old and new, to flourish.
