>>better performance for your $ by getting the most RAM<<

I am trying to figure out what type of RAM capability to get on the motherboard. My preference would be to select RAM that can be moved to a future motherboard. DIMM is very confusing. There is buffered and non buffered, and then there is an eprom on the chip. Can I reprogram the EPROM so the DIMM can be used on a different motherboard? The DIMM package for my IBM P365 says that it is specifically for the P365. Some motherboard retailers with PII boards and DIMM slots indicate that the RAM MUST be purchased from them. Motherboard specific RAM doesn't seem like a very good option to me as I want a lot of RAM and the money will be wasted if I can't move it forward.

For AGP optimization I believe I need DIMM. I don't believe there are any motherboards with AGP support for socket 7 yet. Maybe it is too soon to go for AGP capability.

Can anyone help with a recommendation for the best forward compatible and universal RAM type?
