I don't know if this was from the same article but I thought it was kind of interesting:

"I appreciate what he has done. But he's got to do more to keep his promises of lower taxes. . . . I think we're in decent shape economically, but our taxes are killing everybody," she said.

Jackson was not alone. Most voters interviewed for this story called for elimination of property taxes on cars. Most suggested it could be paid for with a statewide lottery or an increase in the state sales tax, both of which the governor opposes.


Let's see, how can we lower taxes on the people and still fund all the programs necessary to get re-elected?
