Nine is the only candidate here. Isn't nine the only company to adopt GX/2?? Maybe that explains their chart!! Too late for AGP cycle, S3 must catch the Windows 98/cheap pentium II cycle early because they are the ones behind in the race now. Any acquisition must occur very, very soon.

Suddenly on the web site S3 is no longer looking for graphics driver developers. S3 wouldn't advertise for the slots if they didn't need them, and given the workforce shortage I don't believe they could hire that quickly. In other words, I'm skeptical about a timely rollout, acquisition changes all this thinking.

S3 should eliminate GJ, he got a raise before proving himself as a CEO, instead of making it performance based. Now we know why. Except for Walter, mgmt composition is the same, just reshuffled. They are the same guys that did all the stuff Ken is pointing out. Fraud or incompetence, it stinks, solution is to get rid of the smell. More change on the board is needed IMO.

No, if they wish to remain a major player they must secure capacity. The strongest will survive the Asian crisis and then thrive.

Found the Daytona sound card from Turtle Beach, nowhere on the box or website is a mention of SonicVibes or S3. Total marketing failure here, this clearly can be put in GJ's dirty laundry. That stupid logo should have told me long ago that their marketing people were absolutely clueless, the millions spent on unsuccessful "branding" proves it. At least Ski got a poster for the wall. Windows 98 is SonicVibes' last chance to grab any market share.

Notebook market is headed towards handhelds. Who needs more than e-mail, word processor, spreadsheet? Not a whole lot.

No, this gives them a bargaining position at least and could extract a higher offer, not that there are any buyers out there.

> Should S3 buy back shares now?

No, they should take care of their most valuable asset, their employees, first and foremost. They lose the important technical people and yes, then you can kiss S3 goodbye.
