Just did that myself. My old D-Link router finally bit the dust and would not see the internet even though it was giving out a fine WiFi signal. Tried everything, including resetting the firmware back to factory settings, nothing would work.

I found a good price on a TP-Link router and went with it, but eventually I'll buy a mesh setup, probably an Eero. Wasn't happy when I heard Amazon had purchased the company, but until they find out Amazon is sucking down all of my data and sending it back to Amazon HQ, that's what I plan to go with.

I set up an Eero mesh network for my parents and it's the best and most reliable internet and WiFi they've ever had.

I first tried the popular Netgear Orbi in their house and it was nothing but problems. Probably just a lemon router, but it was terrible.
