Go to Oregon. A gas station guy was irked at me for doing my own. I was doing a cross country trip and needed a fill up in Bend. I did not know they do not have self serve. They even scrubbed my window clean of all the dead bugs.

I worked at the gas station in 1966, 53 years ago. –g-

I worked seven days a week. The owner paid me $5 a day or $35 a week (cash). I was glad to have the money.

I'm not sure I ever had someone pump my gas. When I started driving there were still full service pumps but they cost more and I didn't have much money.

By the time I had some money the full serve had disappeared.
