TopCat,
As a minority yourself, you may disagree but it seems to me that racism had greatly subsided since the 60's until Obama became President.....since then it has raised its ugly head again. Sad.
Actually I agree with that statement.

Liberals will look at that and say, "See? White people didn't like a black man becoming president, so they became more racist!"

To me, however, this is the result of identity politics becoming more in fashion thanks in large part to Obama.

Debates used to be centered around the following template: "You believe in A, but I believe in B, and here are the reasons why."

Now they're centered around the following template: "As a member of X, I am offended that you believe in A."

Here are examples of liberals responding to me using identity politics:

"You STFU! You don't have a uterus, so you don't get to have an opinion on abortion!"

"You are just mansplaining. I am a woman, and I have a degree in economics, so you can't tell me that raising the minimum wage will bad."

"Because you are not black, you cannot tell me that Black Panther shouldn't be nominated for Best Picture."

"Because you've never spent a day in jail, you can't tell me that prison work programs are good."

See how that works? Every time it's not the quality of the argument that is being debated, but rather my right to even have an opinion because of who I am.

But how does that relate to racism? Well, think about it. Racism is a form of identity politics.
